Fire de Lumina/Threads of Light, a sequence of performance by  MA RA MU

Root Rot is a collaborative installation exploring the evolving essence of home, identity, and belonging through cross-cultural design. Created with students from five different cultures, Romania, Syria, India, Pakistan, and Iran, the work reflects on permanence and impermanence, the fragility of roots, and the resilience of community.

Jasmine Is a Lie is a capsule collection by MA RA MI, marking a new chapter in the ongoing Feel the Earth line, a permanent body of work dedicated to grounding, regeneration, and the invisible threads between craft and memory.

Romanian symbolism associates wool with prosperity, wealth, and fecundity; wool is the symbol of sun and gold, it is more about spirituality than materiality.Working with craftsman, connecting to our ancestors and rediscovering their crafts, in order to acknowledge, understand and pass on to future generations is the motivation behind my work for over a decade. 

“Prospect” provides for an innovative venue to reflect on global cultures and conceptualizes their co-existence with the Islamic culture. Themed regions are represented through cubes of different materials, textures, and icons. As such, Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Europe are centered around the Ka’aba, the focal point of Islam. The work highlights the concept of crossing boarders between cultures and an ability to translate narratives.

“A wool journey: from fashion design to art installation” is a project initiated by MA RA MI, which continues the brand’s mission to promote Romanian authentic design. Our goal is to connect with a public interested in the meeting of traditions, fashion design and the cultural heritage of our times.

IDentity by MA RA MI focuses on craftsmanship and slow fashion. The local crafts are at the forefront and form the basis of limited edition designs rendered through modern techniques and sustainable fabrics. IDentity contributes to preserving traditional techniques and influences from Romanian culture.

The collection is part of a project initiated by the Association 100%.RO, in a move to promote Romania's cultural patrimony and image abroad, defying the negative stereotypes against Romanians at national and international level.
